James Arthur Allen
James Arthur Allen, 77, of 28 Worsham St., died in a Rome hospital at 5:35 PM Thursday following a long illness of four years. Mr. Allen received injuries in an automobile accident from which he never fully recovered.
He was born in Gilmer County February 18, 1879 son of the late John and Nancy Whitaker Allen and prior to moving to Rome a year ago, resided in the Bethel Community on the Adairsville Rd for 40 years where he was a well known farmer. For many years he was an active member of Bethel Baptist Church and upon coming to Rome moved his membership to Hollywood Baptist Church.
Survivors include the wife, the former Miss Margaret Conley, to whom he was married March 8, 1903; three daughters, Mrs. Carl Jarrell, Silver Creek Rt. 1, Mrs. Virginia Graham, Los Angelas, Calif., and Mrs. Lois Manning of Columbus; two sons, B. V. of Rome Rt 4 and V. H. Allen of Calhoun; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Smith Delray Beach Florida and Clista Allen of Calhoun; two brothers J. F. of Calhoun and J. P. Allen of Acron, Ohio; 10 grandchildren and 10 greatgrandchildren also survive.
Funeral Services will be held at 5 PM Saturday in the Chapel of Jennings Funeral Home with Rev Howard Holcomb, Rev S. H. Pendley and Rev Harvy Brown officiating. Interment will be in East View Cemetery.
The body will lie in state at the funeral home untill time for services. Pallbearers include Green B. Williams, C. H. and Thomas A. Barnes, Raymond Millican, Raymond Stowe, and C. A. Smith.
The family will be at the residence of the daughter, Mrs. Jarrell, on Pleasant Valley South Rd and will receive friends at the funeral home from 4 PM till 9PM today.

Margaret Adeline Conley Allen
Mrs Margaret C Allen, 84, of 28 Worsham St, died Tuesday morning in a Rome hospital following an extended illness, her condition becoming serious one week ago.
Mrs Allen was born in Blue Ridge, April 16, 1884, daughter of the late John and Nancy Watkins Conley but had resided in Rome and Floyd County most of her life. On March 8, 1903 she was married to James Arthur Allen who preceded her in death June 7, 1956. She was a member of Hollywood Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs Carl Jarrell, Silver Creek, Wrs W G Graham, Reno Nevada, Mrs H E Manning, Columbus, two sons, B V Allen, Rome, V H Allen, Calhoun; four sisters, Mrs Nancy Ledford, Blue Ridge, Mrs Vadie Harris, Canton, Mrs Lura Tayler, N. Hollywood, Calif.,and Mrs Laura Stanley of Dalton, one brother, John Conley of Blue Ridge, 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 4 great, great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Jennings Funeral Home with Revs Harvey Brown, S. H. Pendley and Bob Atkins officiating. Internment will be in East View Cemetery.
The body will remain at the funeral home and the family will receive friends there from 7 until 9 p.m. today. At other hours the family will be at the residence of the daughter, Mrs Carl Jarrell, Pleasant Valley Rd.
Pallbearers include Green Williams, Thomas Barnes, Ray Haynie, Paul Grant, Jimmy and Butch Manning.

Barbara Jo Kilgore Anthony
Services for Barbara Jo Kilgore Anthony, 65, of Silver Creek, Ga., formerly of Cherokee County will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Noah Baptist Church with Tim Dickens and David Sorrow officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Perry Funeral Home in charge. The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Anthony died Sunday at Floyd Medical Center in Rome, Ga.
Survivors include two daughters, Shevella Trapp of Silver Creek and Teresa Brand of Rome; a sister, Becky Scott of Gadsden; a brother, Jerry Kilgore of Gadsden; and three grandchildren, Cody Brand, Destin Brand, and Joshua Trapp. Pallbearers will be Cody Brand, Frankie Anthony, Hayden Scott, Jeff Kilgore, Jimmy New, and Doyce Scott. Honorary pallbearers will be the administration and staff of Chilo Hills Health Care. Mrs. Anthony was a native of Cherokee County, was a graduate of Gadsden High School, and was the retired lunchroom cook of Pepperrell Elementary School. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Odis Anthony.

Mrs. Myrtle Lucille Rollins Ashley
Funeral services Of Mrs. Myrtle Lucille Ashley will be at 2 p.m., today at Doyal Road Baptist Church. The Rev. Frank Sharp and the Rev. Billy Rampley will officiate. Interment will be at Holy Ground Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Ashley, 64, of 47 Rainwood Drive died Thursday evening at a Rome Hospital.
She was born in Floyd County, Aug. 1, 1928, daughter of the late Frank Rollins and Ruth Myers Rollins. Before retirement she was employed by Trend Mills for nine years. She was a member of Holy Ground Church.
Survivors include; her husband Lloyd Elton Ashley, to whom she was married April 1, 1944; a daughter, Mrs. Helen Davenport, Lindale; three sons, Travis Ashley, Lamar Ashley, and Larry Joe Ashley, all of Silver Creek; three sisters, Mrs. Louise Wade, Cedar Bluff, Ala., Mrs. Sara Bearden and Mrs. Brenda Gail Wade, Summerville; two brothers, Grady Rollins and C. F. Rollins, both of Rome; 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Mr. Jimmy D. Atkins
Mr. Jimmy D. Atkins, age 54, of Rome, passed away Thursday, February 10, 2000. Mr. Atkins was born April 3, 1945 in Polk County. He was preceded in death by his father, Horace Atkins and a brother, Junior Atkins. Surviving are mother, Rachel Lee Atkins of Cedartown; wife, Jackie Atkins of Phoenix City, Ala.; sons, James Atkins and Kevin Lee Atkins, both of Cedartown; daughter, Missy Atkins of Rome; two sisters, Brenda Temple and Dianne Bailey, both of Cedartown; three grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Sunday, Feb. 13, in the Southside Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Fetkenhour officiating. Interment followed in the Northview Cemetery. Pallbearers were Terry Lindsey, David Money, Dewey Couch. Randy Shaw, Timothy McConnell and Odell Couch. Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
